Firebacks

As something of a throwback to our colonial forefathers, to fireback is an antique relic which still carries some utility in today's fireplaces used first by our colonial forefathers to protect the rear masonry of their fireplaces, firebacks are still relevant today. In fact, it's well known, that even though there has been so much advancement in the technology, our fireplaces today are still vulnerable to potential damage. Firebacks are alleged to protect the studs in our walls that are subject to damage from excessive heat, drying out, and deterioration which can become a potential fire hazard all its own.

Firebacks are also used as a sort of an early day he fireplace blower. The heat which is reflected on the firebacks is alleged to increase the efficiency of your fireplace by as much as 50%, though I've yet to see any clear evidence..

Using an antique fireback as a sort of decorative piece is another element to this great tradition. Firebacks are an antique piece and all are very well fitted into all sorts of fireplaces.

If you’re interested in getting your fireplace fitted for a fireback you should check with your local thrift shop. Honestly, I wonder if there is any place contemporary that would carry this fireback technology in stock. If you have an old hardware store in town this been around for a really long time you may have a owner operator who has one of these somewhere in his back room.

The only place that I could can really consider you being able to find these in a sort of consistency, I recommend you check the Internet. Online has got any number of different, quirky, out of step products available at any time. The fireback is no different. As sort of an antique relic, it has found its place among the online community. If you're interested in purchasing a fireback from the one of these online retailers you should first ask to see digital pictures of the different kinds they have. Ask to see them in a number of different positions in and out of a fireplace to see can get an idea of what your purchasing. If you are satisfied with the validity of the retailer, and the retailer's ability to show you the shots that you're interested in seeing, then and only then would I suggest or allow that you submit yourself up for their product.
